Normandy ‘44: D-Day and the Battle for France

By National Army Museum

Drawing on research conducted for his book ‘Normandy ’44’, author and historian James Holland will take a fresh look at D-Day and the subsequent 76 days of fighting in Normandy.
Over the past 76 years, these pivotal weeks of the Second World War have been frequently recounted. But misunderstanding and mythology have pervaded interpretation of the campaign.
Holland will use archival sources to reframe our understanding of the campaign and offer a new insight into the experiences of those who took part.
James Holland will be in conversation with Dr Peter Johnston, Head of Academic Access and Collections Research at the National Army Museum.
