
Heating and powering buildings currently makes up 40% of the UK’s total energy use. The Future Homes and Buildings Standard has been set out to ensure that new homes built from 2025 produce 75-80% less carbon emissions than homes delivered under the old regulations.

In line with this, all new residential buildings, including social housing, care homes, children’s homes, and student accommodation, must be designed and built to reduce carbon emissions, and be net zero ready by 2025.
