How heat pumps and hydrogen will play a vital role in achieving net zero

By Installer & elemental

Martyn Bridges, Director of Technical Communications and Product Management at Worcester Bosch, will provide valuable insight into the two major technology focuses that will play a central role on the road to Net Zero 2050: heat pumps and hydrogen.
Join this no-cost webinar on 25 February at 6pm, as part of Installer's Net Zero Festival.
Following the publication of the Energy White Paper and the Prime Minister’s 10 point-plan, decarbonisation will be one of the biggest discussion points around the world in securing a greener future. While the challenge posed is great, the role of heat pumps and hydrogen will play a tremendous part in creating what many are terming the ‘Green Industrial Revolution’.
In this session, Martyn will discuss the advantages and disadvantages for each technology, including the nature and benefits of heat pumps in existing homes and the comparative ease of replacing a gas boiler with a hydrogen one.
Martyn will explain where each technology is best suited, and how, when used in the appropriate setting, they each provide promising solutions to decarbonisation. If we play to each of their strengths, it’s clear that both technologies will be essential in achieving our Net Zero 2050 goal.
Martyn will also give a demonstration of the internal components of the cutting-edge hydrogen boiler compared to a gas boiler, providing a fantastic opportunity to get a glimpse of the technology we’ll see entering our homes in the not-so-distant future.
Finally, Martyn will walk through the progress made so far in the trials for both technology types. For hydrogen, he will cover the successful Hystreet trial and look forward to future plans for a hydrogen village, and even a hydrogen city.
For heat pumps, Martyn will analyse the BEIS heat pump trial and how it demonstrates heat pumps’ strength in new build properties rather than existing homes, highlighting the harmonious coalition of the two technologies in their respective settings.
2021 will certainly be an exciting year for the heating industry as it continues to adapt to a greener future. Tune into this session to get the low-down from industry expert Martyn Bridges on the two most important pieces of technology set to define the journey to net zero 2050.
