Deep Listening
Wavepaths was founded on the insight that when we do allow ourselves to listen more deeply to music, we are in essence listening more deeply to ourselves, in particular, to those parts of ourselves that we may not always see, acknowledge and accept.

Research shows that the right music, when you listen with focus and intention, supports meaning-making, emotionality, and mental imagery – the same therapeutic processes associated with psychedelic therapy and other experiential therapies

Prepare For Your Experience
To make the most of your Deep Listening experience, we welcome you to prepare in the following ways:

Use your best headphones or stereo speakers to ensure optimal sound quality

Wear an eye mask to support full immersion in the music

Keep a jumper or blanket to hand for warmth and comfort

Set an intention to help cultivate the right mindset or what you hope to gain or learn from the experience

Open yourself up to the music - Wavepaths research shows that the more you can open yourself up to the inner experience evoked by the music the more likely the session will be personally meaningful

This Deep Listening session is not offered as a psychotherapeutic or medical intervention.

Deep Listening can facilitate powerful experiences. If you are currently experiencing acute emotional distress, such as clinical depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder, please kindly refrain from joining, as we cannot provide the relevant support during our experiences. If you are under the active care of a mental health practitioner, please seek their advice before participating.

Mendel Kaelen is the founder and CEO of Wavepaths, a company founded in 2019 that has developed the world´s first person centred-music solution for/as psychedelic therapy. Prior to this, he worked as a PhD and postdoctoral neuroscientist at Imperial College London since 2011, where his research was the first to demonstrate music’s central role in psychedelic therapies. He is a thought leader on the therapeutic use of music and publishes and speaks frequently on this topic. He has been featured amongst others in Forbes, Nature News, San Francisco Chronicles, Vice Motherboard, Rolling Stone and TEDx. Mendel lives and works on planet Earth.
