Virtual Author Talk with poet Marcus Jackson

Join us to hear poet Marcus Jackson read from his work and discuss his experience as a Black poet and teacher of poetry.

About the Author:
Toledo native Marcus Jackson earned his BA at the University of Toledo and continued his poetry studies in NYU's graduate creative writing program and as a Cave Canem fellow.
His debut full-length collection of poems, entitled Neighborhood Register, was released in 2011. His second book-length collection, Pardon My Heart (2018) is an exploration of love in the contemporary African American ethos.
Marcus' poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine, among other publications.
Marcus lives in Columbus and teaches in the MFA programs at The Ohio State University and Queens University of Charlotte.

Moderator:
Robyn Lyons-Robinson is a professor of English at Columbus State Community College. She holds masters degrees in English and Women's Studies from The Ohio State University.
Robyn has been teaching composition and literature at the college since 1995, spending eight years of that time serving as the department chairperson. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration at Ohio University.
