John Greyson: In Conversation (RESCHEDULED)

By TPL Innovation

Toronto Public Library and Trinity Square Video present John Greyson: In Conversation as part of Toronto Public Library's LGBTQ2S+ Filmmaker Talks, produced in partnership with Trinity Square Video for Pride Month 2021.
Toronto-based award-winning filmmaker, professor, and activist John Greyson has focused his work on important issues in the queer community such as homophobic violence, police mistreatment of the queer population, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In addition to his numerous awards and film festival honours, John was arrested in Cairo in 1993 after filming a protest and was imprisoned for 50 days, leading to a campaign that pressured the Egyptian government to release him. Some of his popular work includes the film Lilies and several episodes of the hit American production of Queer As Folk, filmed right here in Toronto.
John sits down with Toronto Public Library to discuss his work and upcoming projects, the challenges and achievements he has faced during his incredible career as a gay filmmaker, and will also answer audience questions in a Q&A session.
Note: This program has been RESCHEDULED from June 14.
This program is part of Toronto Public Library's 2021 Pride Month series and Trinity Square Video's 50th anniversary celebrations. For more events, reading lists, videos and more, check out TPL’s Pride Celebrations webpage.
