Next Monday, August 16, we'll launch a new series called "Historical Background to the Bible." We'll take various books of the Bible and look at their historical context. I think you'll find this will help you to understand and appreciate the Bible.

To prepare, I'd like you to do a little Bible study yourself.

First, use a concordance and find all of the mentions of Corinth outside of the two letters to the Corinthians. Take note of them.

Second, read through the letters to the Corinthians. I recommend reading it through at least twice using two different translations.

Third, find outlines of the letters. Most study Bibles and Bible dictionaries include these.

Of course, if you don't get a chance to do this self-study, no worries. I won't be giving a quiz or demanding audience participation. Doing the study will simply help you get the most out of Monday's talk.

We're going to start at 8:00 PM CT and go for about half an hour.
