"Hacking the Hype of Zero Trust" - Super Cyber Friday
By CISO Series
Please join us on Friday October 18, 2024 for Super Cyber Friday.
Our topic of discussion will be “Hacking the Hype of Zero Trust: An hour of critical thinking about what are the identity and access functions that are helping us achieve this security nirvana.”
Joining David Spark (@dspark), producer of CISO Series for this discussion will be:
- Rob Allen, chief product officer, ThreatLocker
- Antony Symonds, Head of Group IT Operations, Westland Horticulture Ltd.
In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:
- How has the hype around zero trust affected the way security professionals view and implement it?
- What parts of zero trust are unrealistic in the current environment, and why do these elements often disqualify the term for some practitioners?
- Which identity and access functions are genuinely helping us achieve the goals of zero trust?
- How can organizations avoid letting perfection be the enemy of "very good" when implementing zero trust?
- What are the concrete benefits of implementing even partial zero trust elements, and how can CISOs make the case for incremental improvements?
- What lessons have been learned from real-world zero trust implementations that didn't go perfectly?
- Given the limitations, what should organizations realistically aim for in their zero-trust journey?
- Why do we often mock or malign the term zero trust, and is there a better way to communicate the concept that avoids the baggage?
- Are there ways to reframe the zero-trust conversation to focus more on practical steps and less on the buzzword?
It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific] we'll switch gears to our meetup where everyone will get a chance to chat face to face.
HUGE thanks to our sponsor ThreatLocker
