"Hacking the Commodification of Cyber Crime" - Super Cyber Friday
By CISO Series
Please join us on Friday March 7, 2025 for Super Cyber Friday.
Our topic of discussion will be “Hacking the Commodification of Cyber Crime: An hour of critical think about how your security program changes when the entry barrier goes away.”
Joining David Spark (@dspark), producer of CISO Series for this discussion will be:
- Jason Baker, Principal Security Consultant, GuidePoint Security
- Quincy Castro, CISO, Redis
In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:
- What are the most immediate implications of the reduced barriers to entry in cybercrime? What are the long-term impacts we’re just starting to understand?
- How have leaked ransomware builders and commodified solutions shifted the landscape? Does this explain the rise of “middle-class ransomware?”
- With malware now being treated like a product, how do you see the role of affiliates evolving?
- How do these commodified cybercrime operations escalate from minor nuisances to major threats?
- How are tools like ChatGPT being used to create malware?
- What does the rise of GUIs and malware-as-a-service platforms tell us about the accessibility of cybercrime?
- What risks do organizations face, including legal liabilities, simply from the claim of a ransomware attack?
- With attackers outsourcing components like data leaks or malware creation, how should defenders adapt?
It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific], we'll switch gears to our meetup, where everyone will get a chance to chat face-to-face.
HUGE thanks to our sponsor GuidePoint Security
