The Hippocratic Oath ingrained the words “first, do no harm” in those of us who work in healthcare, and indirectly, public health’s civil servants who focus on population health prevention. Both roles are charged with mitigating and where possible keeping harm from patients and communities.

With the colliding ongoing pandemic, and increased racial activism, it is even more urgent that healthcare and public health workers understand how to do no additional harm against Black lives--and even how to protect them. Rooting out, acknowledging, and dismantling racism wherever it exists is everyone’s responsibility, especially ours in healthcare and public health. Knowing how to recognize and take action to end systemic racism is a necessary step to advance health equity.

First Do No Harm is a half-day virtual symposium for health equity leaders, partners and allies. Join us for an engaging day of panel conversations, engaging keynotes, and a live podcast taping all focused on antiracism and advancing health equity.
