Join Shirley and Ashley to learn about Ireland’s 2-year Conversion Programme, a pathway designed for experienced Family Medicine doctors who want to:

Work in General Practice clinics in rural Ireland

Deliver patient appointments while completing self-directed learning supported by your practice and the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP)

Sit the CCT and CKT exams, with the goal of joining the Irish Medical Council Specialist Register in General Practice after two years

✅ Full-time, unsupervised patient appointments in a primary care clinic
✅ Managing acute and chronic illnesses from diagnosis to follow-up
✅ Caring for all patient populations (from newborns to elderly)
✅ Experience as a cruise ship doctor, if it involved primary care work

What does not count towards your experience:

⛔ Emergency Medicine
⛔ Walk-in GP clinics
⛔ Out-of-hours services
⛔ Minor Injuries Units
⛔ GP locum work done as a secondary/part-time job

Eligible for General Registration with the Irish Medical Council

Strong communication skills (spoken and written)

Adaptability to new clinical environments
