Tabletop RPG crowdfunding has come a long way from its trailblazing early days, and it keeps changing fast. Backer expectations are different. Platforms have matured. The tools available to creators look nothing like they did even a few years ago.

In this session, BackerKit sits down with two people who've watched the space evolve from the inside: Fred Hicks, 32x crowdfunder and co-founder of Evil Hat Productions (Fate Core, Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts, Thirsty Sword Lesbians), and Adriel Wilson, Indie Publisher Representative at DriveThruRPG.

Together they'll walk through how TTRPG crowdfunding got here, where it stands today, the mistakes that trip creators up, and where it's headed next — plus how BackerKit and DriveThruRPG fit into that journey.

Whether you're running your first campaign or your fifteenth, you'll leave with a clearer read on the landscape and practical takeaways you can apply right away.

How the BackerKit DriveThruRPG Integration reduces friction for creators and backers.

Tabletop RPG creators and publishers at any stage — first-time campaigners, seasoned crowdfunders, and anyone weighing whether (or when) to launch.

Fred is the President of Evil Hat, and has done many of the company's book layouts and Roll20 character sheet code-work. Over the past twenty years, with the help of many collaborators, he’s worked to build Evil Hat from a one-game outfit into a leading (albeit still pretty small) publisher of TTRPGs with dozens of titles under the company banner.

Your friendly neighborhood DriveThru Partner Rep, Adriel, loves helping creators realize their visions and share them with the world. The creative visionary behind 9th Level Games' The Excellents, Savage Sisters, Nancy Druid, and their own Monster Mix. A true reindeer bee at heart, Adriel brings to their publishing practice a wealth of game industry experience and a deep love for all things handmade.
