ABOUT THE POETS
Geoff Anderson founded the non-profit Janus: Arts & Letters, focused on developing multi-racial, multi-ethnic poets. He’s a Callaloo fellow; his chapbook Humming Dirges, won Paper Nautilus’s Debut Series, and his micro-chapbook A Bigger Hourglass was published by Ghost City. His poetry can be found in Southern Indiana Review, The Journal and Ninth Letter.
Kari Gunter-Seymour’s poetry collections include A Place So Deep Inside America It Can’t Be Seen winner of the 2020 Ohio Poet of the Year Award; and Serving runner up, Yellow Chair Review Chapbook Contest. Her poems appear in numerous journals and publications including Verse Daily, RattleandThe New York Times. Her work was selected by former US Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey to be included in the PBS American Portrait crowdsourced poem, Remix: For My People.
A ninth generation Appalachian, Kari is the founder/executive director of the Women of Appalachia Project (WOAP) and editor of the WOAP anthology series, Women Speak, volumes 1-6. She is the Poet Laureate of Ohio.
Rose M. Smith's work has appeared in The Examined Life, pluck!, Naugatuck River Review, Snapdragon, Minola Review, Halfway Down the Stairs, Passagerand other journals and anthologies including 50/50, Poems & Translations by Womxn Over 50,which published only the top 50 poets out of over 600 entries.
Rose is author of four chapbooks, most recently Holes in My Teeth (2016). She has been a Pushcart Prize nominee and is a Cave Canem Fellow. She is a Senior Editor with Pudding Magazine. Her collection, Unearthing Ida, won the 2018 Lyrebird Prize.
Scott Woods is an Emmy-winning writer, poet and librarian. He writes a weekly piece for Medium’s Level Magazine and is a contributor to Columbus Alive. In 2019, he founded the performing arts organization Streetlight Guild.
