Dojo: Process is the Most Important Part with Erik Marinovich
By TypeEd
The Typography Dojo is a place where we come together to explore the techniques in the practice of type and typography with training from design Sensei. Join us to learn from the masters.
The creative process is grueling and rewarding all at the same time. Process often never sees the light of day once a project is complete. In this conversation, Erik shows his process and explores the importance behind it with several of his client and personal projects. Sharing how we think, sketch, and execute is just as informative as talking about final artwork. Erik will talk about why process is the most important part of any project.
Erik Marinovich is a San Francisco based lettering artist and designer, and is a co-founder of Friends of Type. Since 2009 he has drawn letters, logos and type for nice folks like: Nike, Target, Google, Hilton, Facebook, Sonos, Sharpie, The Criterion Collection, Air Canada, Gap, Ford Motor Company. In 2012 he co-founded Title Case, a creative work space that conducts workshops and lectures. Between client work, teaching, and side-projects, you’ll find him playing Lego and drawing with his kids.
