Mead Matters: Episode 15 - Blom Meadworks
By American Meadmakers
Local ingredients
Sessionable meads
Lauren Bloom and Matt Ritchie of Bløm Meadworks in Michigan will join us for a conversation covering their journey into mead made with local and sustainable ingredients.
Hosted by Home Governing Committee member Annie Zipser.
Lauren spent years in the non-profit sector before she realized she was more passionate about food. Specifically, local food production. She joined the board of Slow Food Chicago, an organization that advocates for the value and pleasure of good food for all.
Matt started his professional life as a financial geek. He discovered it was more exciting to apply those geeky skills to brewing chemistry. He joined two friends that started a brewery until he learned that he can't process gluten. But, he was hooked on the creative fermentation process, and found Bløm to be the perfect love child of what he enjoys making and drinking.
