Drawing Aerial Views

By Draw Like An Architect

Draw along with me as I share the techniques and tips I have used over the past 10 years producing over 120 aerial view architectural illustrations.
I will be drawing digitally - in Photoshop using a Graphics Tablet - but you can be drawing in any app on any device or even just good old-fashioned pen and paper!
The class includes:
- Compositional Techniques - Linetypes and linestyles for buildings, vegetation and entourage - Colouring an aerial view by using gradients
A little bit about me... I’m Philip Buckingham and I am an architecturally trained illustrator with over 10 years industry experience. I started the Draw Like An Architect project to offer the teaching I wish I had had during my architectural education. Freehand drawing is an invaluable skill whether you are presenting to a client, communicating to your colleague or trying to impress your tutor. However, it is overlooked at most architecture schools. Based in London, I am a founding Director of 5HT, a multidisciplinary design studio specialising in architecture, interiors and products. I am a member of the Society of Architectural Illustration and my work has been exhibited internationally with work featured in The Architectural Review, Architecture Today and the RIBA Journal.
