The Typography Dojo is a place where we come together to explore the techniques in the practice of type and typography with training from design Sensei. Join us to learn from the masters.

Letterforms of different writing systems can migrate among each other, spawning fascinating hybrids. Showing exceptional examples from the unique ethnic salad of Los Angeles as well as other locations worldwide, Hrant Papazian will open eyes to the pleasures and pitfalls of intermixing typographic cultures.

Hrant Papazian is an Armenian from Lebanon; his perspective was formed at the crossroads of three competing visual cultures. Now a proud Angeleno, Hrant’s true love has long been the colorful world of non-Latin typeface design. A recipient of awards from Critique, Granshan and Creative Review, Hrant has presented at typographic conferences from Boston to Bangkok. He has received commissions from Adobe, Agfa, IKEA, Disney, UCLA, Israel Postal Authority, Microsoft, TeX Users Group and Liverpool University.
