Doing the Work: A Conversation on Writing and Not Giving Up
By Gold Leaf Literary
How do you balance a day job, a family, and a personal life with a long lasting writing career? Successful authors Heather Newton, Amy Willoughby-Burle, and Heather Bell Adams get real about doing the work. Join them for an evening of discussion about what real writing life looks like (no turrets! no alcoholic rages!), the second book slump, and finding a path in publishing.
Heather Newton is the author of Under the Mercy Trees and the forthcoming McMullen Circle. A lawyer by trade, she also teaches writing courses at the Flatiron Writer's Room, which she co-founded, and UNC Asheville's Great Smokies Writing Program.
Amy Willoughby-Burle is the author of Out Across the Nowhere, The Lemonade Year and The Year of Thorns and Honey. She works as a teacher at Elevate Life and Art and lives with her husband and four children in Asheville.
Heather Bell Adams is the author of Maranatha Road and The Good Luck Stone. She lives, writes, and practices law in Raleigh.
The authors' books are for sale courtesy of Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe.
