Digital Sourcing for Footwear

This time our free webinar has a subject that we have never addressed before, yet is highly relevant right now: digital sourcing for footwear. In other words: how do you find the right footwear material suppliers and factories if you cannot travel to visit them?
We have two visionary speakers that had already thought of solutions for this issue way before anyone knew about the Corona virus: Elias Gröndal of FindSourcing and Darren Glenister of Material Exchange.
After 8 years of experience as a supply chain manager for H&M, Elias realized that the process of finding suppliers for footwear would need to become much more transparent and straightforward, so he left his top job to become a digital entrepreneur. With his website FindSourcing he now connects both large footwear brands as well as startups to the right footwear manufacturers around the world.
Since this is an educational webinar he will share part of a class that the teaches at fashion universities.
After going into best practices for sourcing footwear in general, including common pitfalls and financial aspects, he will explain how a digital flow could enhance that process to get better results for both the brand and the manufacturer.
This class is not just for rookies; you will also learn a lot if you already have experience in sourcing and as usual there will be lots of interaction between the speakers and the audience.
FindSourcing does not focus on material suppliers, so for this webinar we teamed him up with Darren Glenister of Material Exchange, the biggest digital material library for footwear and fashion.
He too is aiming to make sourcing much more transparent, but also much more sustainable. If all fashion materials would be available in a highly advanced digital database that can be used for both sourcing and design, then we need way less material samples. Furthermore, having the right material data also helps us make better choices. Material Exchange is already well underway to fulfill these goals.
Darren will talk about how companies could source materials digitally and which advantages this would offer for all parties involved, as well as for the design and sourcing process as such.
