When the Declaration was all drafted and signed, one question still remained: how would it get it distributed across the American colonies? Luckily, one newspaper publisher stepped up: Mary Katharine Goddard, an accomplished, free-thinking businesswoman and supporter of the free press.

With Mary Katherine Goddard's help, the Declaration of Independence was read all across our new country -- with Mary Katherine Goddard's name printed proudly at the bottom, the only woman whose name appears on the Declaration.
