Cavan Environment Section staff facilitate this CSI Water workshop.

This workshop demonstrates how Environment Section staff undertake enforcement work, laboratory work, sampling and biological monitoring. Participants get an opportunity to see the equipment used by Environmental Officers . The workshop was previously shortlisted as a finalist in the National Community & Council Awards 2017.

Cavan & Monaghan are deemed low intervention Counties in terms of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths) so it is hoped that these CSI Water workshops demonstrate to all the students the technology which is used daily within their own communities in terms of water quality management.  The equipment includes dissolved oxygen meters to oil spill remediation equipment and all the rest of the techniques and tools used every day to protect water.
