Elephant’s Free “Find your Voice” Community Writing Event—with Waylon Lewis.
By Elephant Academy
Hey, you. Yeah, you. We’re glad you’re here. The world is…a bit of a dumpster fire right now—whether you live in the United States, or elsewhere in the world—but going through whatever this is with a group of like-minded folks has a way of making it all a little easier. More manageable.
Community is a powerful force for good in this world. For years, during trying times, or happy moments, we’ve offered Community Gatherings, hosting the likes of Senator Cory Booker and Jane Elliott—but most importantly hosting you, and me, and you, and you, and you.
And so: we invite you to join our community writing event with Waylon H. Lewis and come find your voice with us. Together with Waylon, we’ll be inspired to put words to the swirling of emotions writhing around inside your heart and your brain after a tumultuous start to 2025—and do it with Elephant’s community of like-minded troublemakers.
We’re not here to put words in your mouth, but to give you an outlet and an opportunity to put words to whatever you’re going through. To write your heart out.
RSVP to join us for a community writing event with Waylon H. Lewis, this Sunday, February 2nd at 10 a.m. MST.
We won’t put a silver lining on the inauguration or the events that have followed. Nor will we put a happy spin on the events in Gaza, Ukraine, or anywhere else. We won’t try to underplay the devastation of the fires in California or any other world event happening right now.
“Protecting ourselves from pain—our own and that of others—has never worked. Everybody wants to be free from their suffering, but the majority of us go about it in ways that only make things worse. [...] When our main goals are to gain comfort and avoid discomfort, we begin to feel disconnected from, and even threatened by, others. We enclose ourselves in a mesh of fear.”
~ Pema Chodron
Our goal is to feel connected with mindful community, rather than fall into the trap of feeling disconnected from our community when we need it most.
This Sunday, find community with Elephant and Waylon Lewis as we gather together. We need this community writing event now more than ever.
Expect a little meditation, a little frank talk, and a whole lot of community love-in-action.
“Please invite your friends. Let's make this big, fun, and helpful for all of us.” ~ Waylon
