ABOUT THE AUTHORS

KJ Charles spent twenty years as an editor in British publishing before fleeing the scene to become a full-time novelist, writing historical romance, fantasy and mystery. She has written some thirty novels and her books have been translated into eight languages. She lives next to a magpie-haunted London park, with a supportive husband, two eye-rolling teenagers, and a cat with a history of violence.

T. Kingfisher writes fantasy, horror, and occasional oddities, including Nettle & BoneWhat Moves the Dead, and A House with Good Bones. Under a pen name, she also writes bestselling children's books. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, cats, and a large garden full of suspicious mushrooms.

Malka Older is a writer, aid worker, and sociologist. Her science-fiction political thriller Infomocracy was named one of the best books of 2016 by Kirkus, Book Riot, and the Washington Post. Her novella The Mimicking of Known Successes, a murder mystery set on a gas giant planet, came out in March 2023 to rave reviews, including Best-of lists at Barnes and Noble and Library Journal, among others, and the sequel, The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles, will be published in early 2024. She created the serial Ninth Step Station on Realm, and her acclaimed short story collection And Other Disasters came out in November 2019. She has a doctorate in the sociology of organizations from Sciences Po and is a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University, where she teaches on humanitarian aid and predictive fictions, and hosts the Science Fiction Sparkle Salon. Her opinions can be found in The New York Times, The Nation, Foreign Policy, and NBC THINK, among other places.

Martha Wells has written many fantasy novels, including The Wizard HuntersWheel of the Infinite, the Books of the Raksura series (beginning with The Cloud Roads and ending with The Harbors of the Sun), and the Nebula-nominated The Death of the Necromancer, as well as YA fantasy novels, short stories, and nonfiction. Her New York Times and USA Today-bestselling Murderbot Diaries series has won the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and Alex Awards.
