Searching for clarity in US immigration policy: unpacking conflicting advice about F-1 visa holders studying abroad

By The PIE

Conflicting advice from two US government agencies has bemused the study abroad sector after a policy manual update at the end of the summer appeared to tighten restrictions on F-1 visa holders studying abroad. The changes, which appeared to restrict international students in the US from studying abroad for longer than five months, are believed by some to be an “unintended consequence” of a policy update. Contradictory statements from USCIS and SEVP continue to bemuse students and study abroad providers, who are calling for an end to the ambiguity. In this webinar, we take a deep dive into the policy changes, asking whether they were intended, if they will be reversed and what they could mean for F-1 visa holders studying abroad.

Join Polly Nash, North America Reporter at The PIE News, Aaron Blumberg, Partner & Business Immigration Attorney at Fragomen law firm and a Minerva University leader as they unpack the details behind the policy and how it could impact international students in the US.
