Two authors and close friends who write for very different audiences but consider their friendship to be an essential part of their creative lives come together to discuss their most recent books, and the surprises and challenges of writing and publishing during a global pandemic.
Anica Mrose Rissi and Amy Jo Burns will share insights into the process of writing and revising their new books, and discuss the roles that their friendship and respective creative communities have played in helping them navigate the personal and professional challenges they’ve encountered along the way.
Both authors live in Princeton, NJ and they have been discussing the ins and outs of the writing and publishing process during monthly lunches for the past five years. In this virtual event, they let us in on the conversation, for an intimate look at how two authors approach the constantly-changing publishing landscape.

About the Authors:
Amy Jo Burns is the author of the memoir Cinderland and the novel Shiner, which comes out from Riverhead Books on May 5. With starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist, Shiner has been called an "exceptional debut" by bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson and a "gorgeous novel" by National Book Award winner Philip Klay. Anica Mrose Rissi’s most recent picture book, Love, Sophia on the Moon, came out from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers on March 31. She is also the author of the Anna, Banana chapter-book series; the young adult novels Always Forever Maybe and Nobody Knows But You (coming on September 8); and the picture books Watch Out for Wolf! and The Teacher’s Pet. Anica plays fiddle in and writes lyrics for the band Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves, and spent many years as a book editor before moving to Princeton to write full-time.
