Building Diverse Futures: Fireside Project Sparks Change in the Field of Psychedelics
By Chacruna Institute
Wednesday, September 21st, 2022 from 12:00-1:30pm PST
After many months of dreaming and planning, Fireside Project’s Affinity Integration Peer Support service is live! Callers to the Psychedelic Peer Support Line who are BIPOC, transgender, and/or military veterans now have choice to process past psychedelic experiences with a support-line volunteer sharing that aspect of their identity. Affinity Volunteers, after completion of their year of service on the line, receive access to resources like scholarships, paid internships, and grants to propel themselves into the psychedelic eco-system.
Join us in this forum with Hanifa Nayo Washington, who is a social entrepreneur, cultural producer, and healing justice practitioner with 20 years in nonprofit leadership, and Joshua White, who is a lawyer, risk-reduction activist, aspiring psychedelic researcher, and founder of Fireside Project. Come learn about Fireside Project’s Equity Initiative, how it works, and visions for the ongoing development of this offering.

Before devoting his life to the psychedelic movement, Joshua spent more than a decade as a Deputy City Attorney at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where he focused on suing businesses exploiting vulnerable communities, serving as general counsel to City departments, and co-teaching a nationally renowned clinic at Yale Law School. He also clerked on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and practiced civil litigation at Conrad | Metlitzky | Kane.
