Stories of BIPOC Land Acquisition
By BIPOC Intentional Community Council
Join us for a conversation with BIPOC Intentional Community Council members Danielle Jones from Sankofa Village Arkansas and Dr. Sandy from Grandmothers Village Project.
We will explore stories and struggles of BIPOC land acquisition and hear from representatives of 2 BIPOC intentional communities who are in process with their land search. What has their experience been like? How do they get organized as a community body within their land search? What has their timeline been in their processes reconnecting to land?
We will learn about what having a land base can open up for these BIPOC intentional communities, and elevate how we can support their next steps in securing long-term relationship to land. This event is meant to stimulate conversation in the realm of land justice by folks on the ground in emergent projects, and is not meant to be a one size fits all "how to get land" conversation. Our intention is to uplift our lived experience in the land acquisition struggle, demystify knowledge barriers around this theme, and support one another's visions for how to be in right relationship to stewarding land and community processes.
This event is free for BIPOC Intentional Community Council members. All people interested in the topic are welcome to join and register. We are asking for a sliding scale minimum $5 donation from non-members; all proceeds will be shared amongst the speakers and supporting BIPOC-led liberation.
Gratitude for your engagement!
