The Acceleration of Blockchain Startups and Sandboxes

The growing interest in Blockchain Technology goes beyond Digital Currency. Over the past year, and especially with the massive digital transformation acceleration triggered by Covid-19, we have seen a renewed interest in Distributed Ledger Technology from the Public and Private Sectors.
In this panel, hear from Sarah Biller, FinTech Sandbox, Matt Walsh, Castle Island Ventures, and Nate Rand, Manetu, discussing the Board and Founder contributions to delivering success, and the investor perspective on potential blockchain targets and return on investment. The group will also discuss perspectives around Startups developing and delivering solutions with Blockchain/DLT as a core or, more commonly, as a component of the business solution. Lastly, we will address the concept and structure of a Blockchain Sandbox supporting Boston as a Global Hub for Blockchain Technology and Massachusetts as a leading State for Blockchain innovation.

Sarah Biller is a Boston-based FinTech entrepreneur, investor, and educator. She is the Executive Director of Vantage Ventures. Most recently, Sarah was the Head of Innovation Ventures at State Street Bank’s Global Exchange division and its Chief Operating Officer for Innovation.
Matthew Walsh, Partner at Castle Island Ventures
Castle Island Ventures is a venture capital firm focused exclusively on public blockchains, investing in infrastructure and application companies that will enable these transformative protocols to power services for the next billion users. Prior to founding Castle Island Ventures, Matt was a Vice President at Fidelity Investments where he led a number of the firm’s blockchain / cryptoasset initiatives.

Nate Rand is a Strategic Advisor to Manetu, the world’s 1st Consumer Privacy Management (CPM SM) platform. Previously, Nate held several roles around technology and innovation at State Street Bank, most recently as the Managing Director, Blockchain / Distributed Ledger Technology.
