Band on the Run was the third studio album issued by Paul McCartney with this band Wings, though two of his key players left the group before recording began in Lagos, Nigeria. With just his wife Linda and Denny Laine remaining, McCartney picked up duties on bass, drums, percussion and lead guitar. Released in December 1973, Band on the Run was a commercial and critical success – buoyed by hit single “Jet” in addition to the title track – and became McCartney’s most celebrated album of his post-Beatles career.
