Sarah Shun-lien Bynum
Sarah Shun-lien Bynum was born in Houston, TX. She is the author of two novels: Ms. Hempel Chronicles, a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award, and Madeleine Is Sleeping, a finalist for the National Book Award and winner of the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize. She also recently completed a story collection, Likes (Farrar, Straus and Giroux September2020). Her fiction has appeared in many magazines and anthologies, including The New Yorker, Ploughshares, Tin House, and The Best American Short Stories. The recipient of an O. Henry Award, a Whiting Award, and an NEA Fellowship, she was named one of “20 Under 40” fiction writers by The New Yorker. She published her first story in Alaska Quarterly Review.
Marilyn Manolakas
Marilyn Manolakas published her first short story "Tornado Season" in Alaska Quarterly Review. It subsequently won a PEN/Robert J. Dau Prize for Emerging Writers and was anthologized in PEN America Best Debut Short Stories 2019. Her short fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in New England Review and Santa Monica Review. She was a March 2019 Resident Artist at Brush Creek Center for the Arts.
Robin Black
Robin Black teaches in the Rutgers-Camden MFA Program. She is the author of three books. Her short story collection, If I Loved You, I Would Tell You This, was a finalist for the Frank O’Connor International Story Prize, and named a Best Book of 2010 by numerous publications, including the Irish Times. Her novel, Life Drawing, was longlisted for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize, the Impac Dublin Literature Prize, and the Folio Prize. Her fiction has been translated into Italian, French, German, and Dutch. Robin’s most recent book is Crash Course: Essays from Where Writing and Life Collide.
Black’s fiction and nonfiction have appeared in One Story, The New York Times Book Review, The Chicago Tribune, Southern Review, The Rumpus, O. Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler UK, and numerous anthologies, including The Best Creative Nonfiction Vol. I and The Best of the Bellevue Literary Review. Alaska Quarterly Review published her first short story.
