Justice in Action Awards

By Faith in Action Alabama

Friends of Justice in Alabama are invited by the volunteer leaders of Faith in Action Alabama to honor the individuals who have dedicated their careers to creating more just systems in which all Alabamians can thrive.
This year we honor Catherine Coleman Flowers, researcher, writer and Public Health advocate who founded the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice and is a member of the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
Judge Sybil Cleveland who has served a long tenure as Municipal Court Judge for the City of Huntsville and started the Municipal Mental Health Court Program to intervene with mental health, drug treatment, and legal accountability programs.
Rev. Dr. A.B Sutton Jr. served as Pastor of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and is the Founder of Living Stones Temple and a founding Board Member of Faith in Action Alabama who has worked to build spaces where people of different faiths can work together for justice.

Rev. Dr. Frederick Haynes, III is the senior pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. He speaks to national audiences about faith, justice and poverty reduction through his sermons on YouTube and on broadcast shows such as the Rickey Smiley Morning Show as well as his leadership positions with the Conference of National Black Churches and the National Action Network. We are delighted to have him come and stoke the fires of justice in Alabama on this special night!
