Wealthy people, even the "bad" ones, have relied upon the celestial clock of astrology to guide their actions for millennia. The key to subversion is not a refusal to use the masters' tools, but rather the application of strategies to bend those tools to your own will.

But first, in order to reappropriate the power of astrology, you must first understand how it has been co-opted and manipulated to suit the demands of profit, and then you must reframe these fields of experience as places ripe for trickery and subversion.

That is also why I have chosen to begin this series with the 1st house--not just because it contains the Ascendant and determines the entire house layout of any chart, but because it is where Mercury rejoices, and I believe Mercury (along with the many trickster deities associated with him) is our most influential ally in subverting systems of oppression and extraction.

We will examine the contours of the first house and Mercury's joy within it, and discuss the true nature of embodiment and all of the implications that come with embodying a human experience under capitalism's rules.

Then, we will discuss the necessary trickster skill of acquiring the bait without dying on the hook. Baits and hooks come in many forms in our modern world, and if the goal is to subvert exploitative systems, it has to begin in the body.
