Rondo Community Music Series - Ernest Bisong Group
By Walker|West Music Academy
Ernest Bisong (M.M.) began his musical journey in Nigeria, studying classical violin with esteemed tutors such as Rachel Barton-Pine, Sir Godfrey Amoah, and Thomas Kanitz. He gained acclaim for his soulful performance at the 2008 HipHop World Awards in Lagos and performed at SXSW’s “African Showcase” in 2012. That same year, he released the hit single “Bumble Bee” with IBK, inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumble Bee." By 2013, Ernest became the first Nigerian to earn a performance diploma from ABRSM in London with distinction and was hailed as “arguably Africa's foremost contemporary violinist” by Venture Career Journal Nigeria. He has opened for artists such as Mike Stern and Anita Baker and has been a Codabow brand ambassador since 2015, also endorsing Fishman, AES Strings, and Peak Music Stands. His compositions blend jazz with his African heritage, featuring his unique horn-like improvisation on the violin.
