AFA Fireside Chat: Episode 7-Health Care Disparities for Women

By Alzheimer's Foundation of America

Alzheimer’s disease affects all genders, but it has a disproportionate impact on women. Approximately two-thirds of the more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease are women, and women are nearly two-times more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than men, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This episode will explore this disparity, steps women can take to reduce their risk, obstacles to care facing women, and ways to break down these barriers.
