Sherrod Brown & Connie Schultz: In Conversation

By The Mercantile Library

Join us for a conversation between Ohio's senior Senator Sherrod Brown and journalist Connie Schultz as they discuss their respective books, Desk 88 and The Daughters of Erietown.
About Desk 88: Since his election to the U.S. Senate in 2006, Ohio’s Sherrod Brown has sat on the Senate floor at a mahogany desk with a proud history. In Desk 88, he tells the story of eight of the Senators who were there before him.
Together, these eight portraits in political courage tell a story about the triumphs and failures of the Progressive idea over the past century: in the 1930s and 1960s, and more intermittently since, politicians and the public have successfully fought against entrenched special interests and advanced the cause of economic or racial fairness.
About The Daughters of Erietown:
The evolution of women’s lives spanning the second half of the twentieth century is at the center of this beautiful novel that richly portrays how much people know—and pretend not to know—about the secrets at the heart of a town, and a family. It is Schultz's first novel.
About the Authors:
Sherrod Brown has dedicated his life in public service to fighting for what he calls “the dignity of work”—the belief that hard work should pay off for everyone.
Connie Schultz is a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and professional in residence at Kent State University's school of journalism. In addition to The Daughters of Erietown, she is the author of two non-fiction books, including "...and His Lovely Wife," which chronicled the successful race of her husband for the U.S. Senate.
They reside in Cleveland.
Free and open to the public.
Copies of both books can be purchased via Joseph-Beth Cincinnati.
