The impact of the Black Lives Matter movement has been very visible in sport. From the activism of Bianca Williams and her partner to Premier League footballers 'taking the knee' at the start of games, the experiences of and challenges facing BAME communities in sport has never been more in focus.
Despite a breakout year in 2019, the coronavirus pandemic has raised fresh fears about the future of women's sport - although many remain optimistic. However, financial models reliant on gate receipts and the institutional favouring of men's sports - both the Premier League and Championship football returned to play whilst the Women's Super League was cancelled - are causes for concern.
From grassroots issues such as how to encourage more girls from BAME communities to play sport all the way through to C-level problems such as diversity in boardrooms, the intersection of race and gender has a special relevancy in the sports industry.
Joining host Dr Rob Wilson to discuss this is Rowena Samarasinhe, a Partner at LEVEL and the Managing Director of GENSport, and Dame Heather Rabbatts, who is the founder of the Women's Sport Group and Chair of Vero Communications.
