Karla Cornejo Villavicencio is an immigrant from Brooklyn and Queens, Harvard graduate, Yale PhD student, and writer who has contributed to The New York Times, The New Republic, Vogue, Elle, Glamour, n+1, This American Life, and more. She is the author of The Undocumented Americans, which was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Award in nonfiction. She lives in New Haven with her partner and her dog.
