For this event, we’re going to look at distractions from two different angles:

One angle is the volume of security solutions that are being sold to us and all of them vying for our attention. What can we stop paying attention to? What vendor scare tactics can we just ignore?

The second angle is an attack itself. Often attackers will create distractions in one area and like lemmings security professionals run after it. But that attack may truly be designed as a diversion from what is the real attack itself. How do you know and where should you be looking when one of those “sleight of hand” attacks happen?

How does a security team prepare to not get flanked?

What can we stop doing now? What’s eating up most of our time that we should stop doing?

There are two states: What you currently know and what you can know. Shouldn’t all cyber products help us with one of those?
