“How to communicate with the board” is an issue we revisit again and again on the CISO Series. During board meetings CISOs have precious moments to explain complex issues, and provide data so those who are concerned about all of corporate risk can take that information into consideration and make appropriate decisions for the business.

What isn’t working currently with board communications?
What are the actions the board wants to take, and what are the metrics security can be feeding the board to help with that decision making?
What does the board seem to be appreciative of?
What metric is the most valuable to the board?
It all starts at 10 AM Pacific/1 PM Eastern. At the end of the hour [11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern] we'll switch gears into a series of impromptu 1-on-1 five-minute meetings where everyone will be randomly paired. Nothing to prepare, we’ll do the matching.
