All Creatures Great and Small: A Kulturo Share Event
By Kultro Media
Speakers:
- David Ian Howe
- Dr. Sean Desjardins
- Francesca Slim
If there’s one thing that is bound to feature in a human interest story, it’s animals! In our upcoming event, we’ll be taking a walk on the wild side (or perhaps in some cases on the domesticated side…?), and chatting about the relationship between humans and animals in the past and present. Joining us are three guest speakers who will be sharing their knowledge and experience in different areas of this theme.
David Ian Howe - one of the hosts of our very own “Life in Ruins” podcast - is an independent researcher and science communicator who you may know through his popular ‘ethnocynology’ account. He will be chatting about the development of our relationship with dogs.
Dr Sean Desjardins is an assistant professor of anthropological archaeology at the University of Groningen. He will be sharing insights into his research as a zooarchaeologist working in collaboration with indigenous communities in the Arctic to look at past hunting practices.
Francesca Slim is a PhD candidate at the university of Groningen in the Netherlands. She will be talking about her research looking at the impact of pigs on the development of society in the past in the Near East.
Join us (for free!) on November 26th to listen in to the discussion and ask your own questions! Registration will be open soon - so mark your calendars and watch this space!
